I made this application due to always having to convert values from one format to another format in CNC milling. I also included automatic chip thinning for when the width of cut is less than the tool’s radius. I wanted a fast, simple app to convert the values I have to the values I need.

When working with CNC milling speeds and feeds the input and output format can very, conversions are needed to get the values into the needed format. CNC Milling Converter is not giving speeds and feeds based on tooling and material. What it does is take values you have and convert them into the format you need.

CNC Milling Converter will calculate RPM and Feed from Cutting Speed and Feed per tooth.

Some examples…
1) The rate at which the tool spins can be provided in “Feet per minute”, “Meters per minute”, or RPM.
2) Feed rate can be provided in “inch per minute”, “mm per minute”, “inch per tooth”, or “mm per tooth”.
3) Side step can be provided in “step over value”, “engagement angle”, or “percentage of the tool diameter”.

The values that are put into CAM software or Gcode could be required in a format that as not provided and needs converting. Many CAM systems do the conversions but the information maybe spread out on different dialogs. When making changes and wanting to see the effects this can become time consuming due to moving around the dialogs.

CNC Milling Converter allows you to enter the values in one format and toggle between different formats by taping the blue text fields. Switching between inch and metric will also convert the values you have entered. When working with step over less than the tools radius, chip thinning is automatically calculated into the final feed.

Key-
Diam = Tool Diameter
Teeth = Number of teeth on the cutter
Vc = Cutting Speed in either “Feed per minute” or “Meters per minute”
inch/m = Inches per minute
mm/m = mm per minute
WOC = Step over value in inches or mm.
AE = Engagement angle
Stp% = Step over percentage based on the tool’s diameter

Tips
1)Hold down the text of a field to clear the values in the edit box and move cursor to that text box.
2)Hold down Inch, Metric, or “Calculate Feed” buttons to clear all fields.
3)Use the next or arrow key on your key board to move to each edit box.

Enjoy
